Hurricane Katrina
Following an urgent request from dLife USA, the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the American Diabetes Association, Insulin For Life Australia sent two lots of insulin and other supplies from Australia and arranged for supplies to be sent from Insulin For Life affiliates in the UK and Germany.
This was to assist with the acute phase of the emergency.

dLife with supplies destined for Louisianna
The insulin sent from Australia on September 3, one day after the request, was adequate for about 250 people requiring insulin for 2 weeks. Similar amounts were sent from Germany and the UK in the following week. Following a request to send syringes, 2000 were sent from Australia in the second week.
The recipient organisations stated in advance that they were able to deliver the supplies to where they were needed. The feedback we received from Diabetes Educators and clinics impressed on us just how much this "hands on" support was appreciated.
